Web Hosting

PeaceWorks offers web hosting packages which include:

• 100 Gigabytes (GB) of SSD storage
• Up to 10 databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
• Nightly backups
  • Backups are performed nightly and are stored off-site for 30 days. We can restore an entire website or database from the nightly backup. Note that this may result in work being required on the website or database after being restored. This will be the responsibility of whomever supports the website. In the case that this is PeaceWorks it will be subject to your hourly rate.
• DNS hosting for one domain included. DNS for additional domains can be added for a nominal fee.
• cPanel access for configuration and management of files and databases
• High-performance environment available for resource-intensive sites

Onboarding Project

For all new web hosting accounts, there is an onboarding project to set up DNS and domain registration that is billed hourly. On average it takes about 2.5 hours if we are setting up DNS only, and 4.5 hours when a domain transfer is involved, but it can vary depending on ease of accessing existing DNS records and accessing a domain transfer code.

Domain Management

PeaceWorks offers a domain registration management service where we will register your domain(s) and renew them annually with our registrar. We offer this because we have seen many unfortunate situations where domains have expired unexpectedly due to expired credit cards or notifications sent to outdated contact addresses, resulting in websites going offline and email being interrupted. Allow us to take care of it so that you never need to worry about it! If you already own a domain and would like for PeaceWorks to take over management for you, we can work with you or your current provider to transfer the domain into our care.

Pricing

The registration fee is $42 per year for each domain. In addition, some initial setup time will be required. For new domains this requires 30 minutes on average. For transfers, this requires about 2.5 hours on average, but it depends on how easy it is to get the domain transfer code from the existing registrar. This time will be billed at your hourly rate.

Any additional work, such as updating name servers, will be billed at your hourly rate.

DNS Hosting

PeaceWorks can host DNS for your domain(s) on our DNS servers and provide you with a facility to make DNS changes on your domain(s). DNS records are critical for the operation of email, websites, and sometimes other crucial systems. We are here to provide assistance and support at the hourly rate for organizations that prefer that option.

Pricing

DNS hosting for one domain is included as part of a web hosting package. Additional DNS hosting is $24 per year per domain. For each domain added, some initial setup time will be required. For new domains this requires 30 minutes on average. For transfers this requires about 3 hours on average, but can vary depending on ease of accessing existing DNS records. This time will be billed at your hourly rate.

Email Hosting

PeaceWorks offers full-featured email hosting on your own domain name. Some of the features included are: webmail access (with no advertising), contact lists, calendar, sharing folders and files, aliases and forwarding. We do not extract data for use in advertising or surveillance. For a detailed list of all features included with your email account please see our Services and Features page.

Pricing

Pricing is per mailbox and depends on the storage space required and the type of mailbox. Each mailbox can have its own storage limit. If it is a forward only, no storage and no webmail interface are available for that mailbox; it just forwards mail to another address.

Initiating email service will require some setup time which will be billed at your hourly rate. On average this requires 1 hour but it may be affected by factors such as whether the new services represent transitions from any previous ones.

Email Deliverability Service

PeaceWorks subscribes to a mail delivery service called Postmark to improve email delivery rates for email sent from website software. This is ideal for reliably sending large broadcasts such as newsletters, transactional email such as donation receipts, and more. For a fee of $156 per year we can provide you with access to this service which includes up to 10,000 messages per month. If you go over this limit in a given month you will be charged an overage fee of $1.75 per 1,000 messages over 10,000 for that month. Such overages are invoiced quarterly. You can also request a login to access your account which will allow you to view:

• Monthly usage statistics and reports
• Email delivery rates
• Issues affecting delivery

Some setup time will be required for this service which will be billed at your hourly rate. On average this takes 1.5 hours but it depends on whether assistance with DNS or website software configuration is required.

Annual Terms

All terms are one year in length unless otherwise noted in the description, and will be automatically renewed at the end of the term. Terms begin on January 1st and end December 31st. Fees for new services will be prorated for the remainder of the calendar year. Cancellation of services will result in the termination of the automatic renewal. All services will remain accessible until the termination date, and no refund will be provided for the remaining term.

The exception to this is accounts on our Total Care plan for ongoing website maintenance and support, which are on quarterly terms.

Cancellation of Domain Registration

If domain management is cancelled, there will be a fee to recover amounts paid in advance in good faith on your behalf. The fee will be a prorated portion of the annual fee as follows:

A) If the domain’s expiry date is after December 31st of the current year then the fee will cover from January 1st of the year after cancellation until the domain’s expiry date.
B) If the domain’s expiry date is on or before December 31st of the current year then the fee will cover from the requested termination date until the domain’s expiry date.
